CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough has a new officer on its police force.
Police Chief Vincent McGinnis introduced Ethan Fritz to Clearfield Borough Council at Thursday’s committee meetings.
“He’s a young buck, but he has a lot of training under his belt. He’s already proven to be a good asset to our police department,” he said. “We’re going to use him a lot.”
Fritz, 24, is from Falls Creek. He graduated from the Municipal Police Academy at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in May.
In other business, McGinnis reported the department is having issues with excessive garbage along the Clearfield riverwalk and in the parks. Loitering at nighttime has also been an issue, he said.
Clearfield Borough Operations Manager Leslie Stott added that the street department recently picked up a 30-gallon bag of garbage in Lower Witmer Park.
“There’s a dumpster right there in the park,” Stott said. “All we’re asking is that you walk a few steps and deposit your garbage.”
Council noted that the police department has made an effort to patrol the parks and the riverwalk, and their efforts are much appreciated.
Stott also announced that the Clearfield Halloween Parade will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the fairgrounds and the borough’s Trick-or-Treat night will be from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
