LeRoy “Eddie” Myers, 73, of North Philipsburg and most recently of Clearfield, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 at home.
Born Sept. 22, 1943 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Roy E. “Hooksie” Myers and Anna Mary (McDonald) Myers Stover.
He was a 1962 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola High School. He was employed for 33 years at Penelec, Shawville Plant, until his retirement in 1998.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he served during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in Hawk Run.
He was a member of the Carpathian Club, Free & Accepted Masons Moshannon Lodge No. 391 and Williamsport Consistory. He was a life member of the Philipsburg BPO Elk Lodge No. 1173 and the Philipsburg VFW Louis P. Jenkins Post 3450.
He was an avid fan of Philipsburg-Osceola wrestling. He also enjoyed golfing and Penn State sports.
On July 8, 1967 in Hawk Run, he married Sandi L. (Williams) Myers, who survives at home.
In addition to his wife of 50 years, he is survived by two daughters, Shelley Wilcox and her husband, Scott of Woodstock, Ga., and Kelley Hardy and her husband, Samuel of Philipsburg.
He is also survived by a brother, Robert James Myers and his wife, Darlene of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Nicholas Myers Gurol, Zackary Wilcox, Jordan Wilcox (Todd Lasance) and Samantha Hardy; a great-granddaughter, Charlie Rose Lasance; his beloved dog, “Kushie”; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ronald H. Myers and Timothy L. Myers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, 53 Fulton St., Hawk Run, with Fr. Peter Benyo officiating.
Burial with military honors will be held at the church cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St., Philipsburg.
An Elks memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. and Panikhida will be at 8 p.m., both Wednesday at the funeral home.
