Detour will be in place
MORRIS TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin a bridge deck replacement job Sept. 11 in Morris Township, Clearfield County.
The bridge spans Alder Run on Route 1009 (Deer Creek Road), near the Morris Township Recreation Center. The existing 18-foot bridge dates from 1941 and carries an average of more than 1,400 vehicles each day.
Crews from PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance will be working to replace the wooden bridge deck to provide a better driving surface and keep the bridge in useful service for years to come.
Work will also include removal of the paved surface and placement of a new surface once deck work is complete. All work is weather dependent,
Starting Sept. 11, the bridge will be closed and an official detour will be in place. The detour will use Route 2034 (Wallaceton Road), Route 2033 (Summit Hill Road) and Route 2032 (Sington Road). The detour will be in place through Sept. 22.
Drivers are reminded to follow posted detour signs, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
