Margaret Jean “Aunt Jean” Orr, 81, of Curwensville died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Marion Manor Personal Care Home in Curwensville.
Born March 21, 1934 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of William J. and Zelda (Haupt) Orr.
Miss Orr had first been employed by the former MacGregor Sportswear in Clearfield for 19 years until its closing.
She was then employed for 20 years at the former Clearfield Cheese Co. in Curwensville until its closing.
She lastly had worked for Clearfield County in the courthouse as a receptionist for 17 years until her retirement in 2010.
She was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church.
She was a member of the Lady Emily Rebekah Lodge No. 451 and formerly the Aster Rebekah lodge No. 177, where she served as Noble Grand and District Deputy President; Juniata Valley Court No. 121, formerly DuBois Court No. 42 Order of the Amaranth, where she had served as Royal Matron and District Deputy; and Grove City Shrine No. 53, formerly DuBois Shrine No. 11 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, where she served as Worthy High Priestess.
She was also a member of the Curwensville Alumni Association, where she served as past president and was most recently the reservations chairperson.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Dodie (Ward) Spencer of Grampian and nieces and nephews, Joyce Orr, Susie Orr Carter and Billy Orr, all of Texas, Jimmy Orr, Ted Orr and Stephen Orr of Oregon, Bobbi Spencer and Alan Spencer and his wife, Lori, both of Grampian, and Scott Orr of Cleveland, Ohio.
Also surviving are a great-niece and great-nephew, Tina Fleming and her husband, Jim and Daren Pentz and his wife, Carrie, both of Grampian, and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, William, Harold and James Orr. She was the last member of her generation.
Funeral services for Jean Orr will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Ethan Shearer officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
