Billy Spencer attended the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center (CCCTC) in 2015-16 in the cosmetology program.
During his nine months at the CCCTC, he said he learned the skills that prepared him to be able to start employment at Taffy Salon and Spa in Clearfield.
Spencer said that the CCCTC was a wonderful experience that allowed him to be pushed to his fullest ability. He mentioned the one-on-one time with the instructor was very beneficial.
One of the important things he said he learned to prepare him for working in the industry was how to stay professional in high-stress situations.
During his time at CCCTC, he participated in many activities, including So Much More Than Hair, which raises money to help local causes; the benefit also donates wigs to anyone experiencing alopecia.
Spencer is only one example of how CCCTC graduates use their education to strengthen the industry in their field of study.
