WOODWARD TOWNSHIP – The investigation is ongoing into a fatal, three-vehicle crash that shut down state Route 53 for several hours Sunday in Woodward Township.
According to Clearfield-based state police, a Jeep Wrangler operated by Gregory A. Millinder Jr., 31, of Madera was traveling southbound at 6:15 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle.
Millinder entered the oncoming lane and impacted the rear of a Chevrolet Corvette. Then, his vehicle continued south in the northbound lane and impacted a Chevrolet Bel Air head-on.
Gary K. Stover, 71, of Loganton was the operator of the Bel Air, and flown from the scene to UPMC Altoona. His passenger, Mary T. Caprio, 70, of Lock Haven was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both occupants of the Corvette Daniel L., 68, and Susan F. Gillette, 67, of Moshannon were taken to UPMC Altoona. Millinder and his passenger who was an 8-year-old child sustained minor injuries.
All three vehicles sustained disabling damage as a result of what state police have categorized as a “DUI fatal crash.” SR 53 was shut down for several hours for crash reconstruction and investigation.

State police were assisted by Houtzdale-Ramey, Mountain Top, Madera and Clearfield emergency medical services, Houtzdale, Osceola and Madera fire departments and STAT MedEvac.
