Betty Jo Kenney, 81, of Houtzdale died Friday, June 30, 2017 at her residence.
Born Feb. 15, 1936 in Dry Prong, La., she was the daughter of Janet Ulbrich.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Houtzdale. She was also a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Auxiliary and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star.
She was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Employment until her retirement.
On Jan. 18, 1956, she married Richard Gene Kenney, who preceded her in death April 15, 2011.
She is survived by a son, Richard Kenney of Osceola Mills; two daughters, Deborah Kenney and Kathy McClelland and her husband, Scott, all of Houtzdale; and four grandchildren, Frank Joseph Kenney and Caleb, Elaine and Sarah McClelland.
Also surviving are a sister, Judy Brunir of Cummings, Ga., and a sister-in-law, Margaret Davis of State Line.
She was preceded in death by her mother, her husband and a brother, Bobby Watson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale, with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating.
Family and friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
The Houtzdale America Legion Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
