CURWENSVILLE — Will Myers and Reese Wilson combined on a two-hitter while Ty Bender and Seth Bumbarger drove in half of the runs as the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team defeated Curwensville 10-0 in six innings at Sherman Field Thursday evening.
Myers pitched four innings for the win, striking out four, walking three and allowing one hit.
Wilson closed out the Chiefs’ fourth win in six games with a one-hit, two-inning stint. He recorded two strikeouts.
Clearfield, second behind Brookville in the Jefferson County League chase, tagged Curwensville starter Jake McCracken for three runs in each of the first two innings and added on with pairs off of Matt Brown in the fourth and Broc Heitsenrether in the sixth for the Mercy Rule finish.
Bender registered three RBIs with a bases-loaded walk, a single and a sacrifice fly.
Bumbarger chased home runs with a triple to the left center gap in the first and a sharp single to left in the fourth.
Thayne Morgan and Wilson had two hits and scored three times apiece at the top of the lineup.
For the Bucks (0-6), Avery Francisco pounded a double to deep right field in the fourth inning to break up Myers’ no-hit bid.
Starting with Sunday’s 6 p.m. home date against Brookville at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field, the Chiefs will play six games in as many dates, including make-ups against Brookville at Punxsutawney Monday and at DuBois Wednesday.
