PENFIELD – Members of the Bucktail Council at their annual meeting and recognition dinner honored two local scouters with the Silver Beaver Award.
Deacon Robert P. DeNoon of Brockway and Harold J. “Hank” Webster of DuBois each earned the award.
The Silver Beaver Award is the council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America.
Recipients of this award are registered adult leaders who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council.
DeNoon has served as an assistant scoutmaster, explorer training chairman, district committee member, council president, vice president of membership and a council activities chairman.
He has earned numerous awards, including Eagle Scout, Scouter’s Key, Scouter’s Training Award and District Award of Merit. His community involvements include Rotary, Penn Highlands Ethics Committee, Parish Council and the DuBois Ministerium to name a few.
Webster has served as an assistant cubmaster, cubmaster, Webelos den leader, assistant scoutmaster, scoutmaster, crew advisor, merit badge counselor, polar bear chairman and camp staff.
His community involvements include the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Pennsylvania State Water Plan Committee, AARP, Clearfield County Conservation District, Garden Club, Envirothon advisor, science fair staff, Youth Field Days, Penn State Biology Club, Penn State Wildlife Club and Reynoldsville soccer to name a few.
