Elizabeth P. Quashnock, 92, of DuBois and formerly of R.D. Punxsutawney, died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 27, 1924 in Anita, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Horwantz) LaBance.
She was married to John A. Quashnock Jr. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She was a homemaker. She, along with her husband, also ran John’s Maytag in Sykesville for many years.
She was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Society. She was a volunteer at the Sykesville Senior Center and the Sykesville Library.
She enjoyed crocheting and loved to read. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Her specialty was homemade pierogies, which she passed down to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Michael A. Quashnock and his wife, Julie of Reynoldsville; a son-in-law, Paul Reiter of R.D. Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Vanessa Reiter, Megan Reiter, Mary Beth Bolam and Jill Quashnock; and one great-grandchild, August Bolam.
She was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Reiter.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday at the Baronick Funeral Home and Crematorium Inc. The rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Barron as celebrant.
Burial will be in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery.
