Harold “Colin” Collins, 74, of Clearfield died Saturday, May 13, 2017 at UPMC Altoona. He was born April 17, 1943, a son of the late Lester P. and Marie A. (Carr) Collins.
Mr. Collins retired in 2005 after 28 years of service as a police officer for Lawrence Township. He was previously employed at Clearfield Cheese for 15 years.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield.
He was also a member of the F. Michael Sicks VFW Post No. 1785 of Clearfield and the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6.
Mr. Collins also served with the U.S. Army Reserves. He enjoyed hunting and working outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria “Jean” (Norris) Collins; two children, Casey Collins of Clearfield and Kelly Wallace and her husband, Travis of Osceola Mills; three granddaughters, Sierra Collins, Haylee Wallace and Adan Wallace; and a great-granddaughter, Kyrra Lea Schlindwein.
He is also survived by four brothers, Dan Collins and his wife, Rose, Gary Collins and his wife, Jean, Leo Collins and his wife, Nancy and Terry Collins and his wife, Terry, all of Clearfield, and two sisters, Sandra Langford-Wise of Clearfield and Julie Beish and her husband, Bill of Clearfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dave and his wife, Joan Collins.
A Christian Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Msgr. Henry Krebs officiating. Burial will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield.
