BIGLER – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin roadway improvement work next week on Route 322 and Route 2030 (Allport Cutoff) near the village of Bigler in Clearfield County.
The project will improve roadway integrity, ride quality and safety along the two routes.
Signage for the project was set this week, with traffic control set-up to follow. As weather permits, Route 322 work will get started with the goal to improve drainage, update guiderail, reconstruct the roadway, pave and add a turning lane from the Dollar General Store to the Allport Cutoff (Route 2030).
A new signal and safety improvements will also be performed at the 322/Allport Cutoff intersection.
The box culvert carrying Forcey Run under Route 322 will also be rehabilitated, and sight distance improvements will be made in the area of the Walker Lumber entrance.
The Allport Cutoff (Route 2030) will see drainage improvements and roadway reconstruction from Shiloh Road to Route 322.
Traffic control through the project will consist of daylight flagging and alternating traffic patterns. Drivers will need to remain alert for flaggers in and near the roadway.
PennDOT expects the project to finish by the end of November, with all work weather and schedule dependent. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $3 million job.
Drivers are reminded to move through work zones with caution, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
