Chester Andrew Amick, 99, a guest of Epworth Personnel Care Manor, Tyrone, and formerly of Lanse, went to be with the Lord on May 10, 2017 at the home.
Born May 31, 1917 in Wells Tannery, Pa., he was the son of the late Sherman and Leta Sproul Amick. He was wed to Helen Ruth Kurtz Amick for 77 years, and she survives in Tyrone.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Sally A. Russ and William Amick and his wife, Penny; his grandchildren, Dr. Rebecca Russ-Sellers, Daniel Russ and his wife, Kelly, Jeffery Amick and his wife, Chelsea and Valerie Amick; great-grandchildren, Camille Sellers, John C. Sellers, Lilia Sellers, Devney Amick, Nolan Amick and Shelby Russ. Also surviving are his sisters, Helen Fowkes and Fleta Ebersole.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Gordon and son-in-law, Isham A. Russ.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse. He was a superintendent of the former John E. Teeter Coal Co., Pottersdale, for 37 years.
He was a life member of Operating Engineers Union, Local 37. He was a 32-Degree Mason, a member of the Consistory and the Jaffa Temple, Altoona.
Public funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lanse, with Pastor Vicki Beilfuss officiating. Burial will be in Grassflat-Lanse Lutheran Cemetery, Grassflat.
Public visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
