CLEARFIELD – Two Clearfield Borough police officers received promotions.
At Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council meeting, Greg Neeper and Nathan Curry received promotions to assistant police chief and police sergeant.
According to previously published GANT News articles, in February, the council voted to promote Neeper to the position of assistant chief.
Neeper had been serving as the department’s sergeant. The position has been open since Chief Vince McGinnis was promoted in 2010. Neeper has been a member of the police department for more than 20 years.
Neeper’s promotion then left a vacancy for the sergeant’s position. The council voted to appoint Curry to sergeant.
At the meeting, both officers were presented with their new badges, and they will officially take their new positions April 22.
Also at the meeting, the council voted to approve:
- Traffic control for the Queens for a Cause 5K on June 11.
- Road closures for the Bloom and Berry Bash (June 16-17), The Clearfield Art Festival (Aug. 19) and the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.’s 5K Pumpkin Run (Oct. 14). All closures are pending PennDOT approval.
- Purchasing one Patrol PC RhinoTab for the police SUV at a cost of $5,678.
- Closing the area around the grove in the fairgrounds for the Rosary March on May 7.
- Signage informing residents about duck feeding at Lower Witmer Park, the Riverwalk and near J.G. Food Warehouse.
- Supporting a grant by the Susquehanna River Arts Council to place a bronze statue at the riverwalk park.
- The LERTA application for Continental Carbonic.
- Sending two officers to ALICE training July 17-21
- Rehiring Taylor Stott and Eric Scaife as summer recreation directors (Stott for T-ball and Scaife for flag football).
- Sending the street department to the Mo-Valley Council of Governments annual equipment show and training May 24 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Signing a grant agreement with the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Library.
- Releasing funds to Clearly Ahead once payment is received from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant.
Stott remarked that the council has not seen anyone from Clearly Ahead for more than a year.
She said the borough would like a representative from Clearly Ahead to give the council an update on Clearly Ahead’s strategic plan for the property, which was formerly the location of the Tool Shed and Uni-mart.
