CLEARFIELD – Sometimes a good deed is its own reward.
At Thursday’s work session, Police Chief Vince McGinnis told the Clearfield Borough Council about the success of a recent book drive the police department took on to help an 8-year-old.
McGinnis said thanks to the help of the community, the department was able to collect 1,004 books.
The police department offered its assistance to the young girl.
The 8-year-old is a Clearfield resident who is in third grade through PA Cyber Charter Schools. She contacted the police department because she is learning about communities, volunteering to help others and how to be a good citizen.
As part of her education, the girl wanted to collect books to donate to foster kids in the Clearfield area. When they heard about the project, the officers agreed to place a donation basket in police department for anyone in the community wishing to donate new or gently used books.
McGinnis thanked the community for their overwhelming support.
