Dolores R. “Dolly” Cowfer, 80, of (Spike Island) Osceola Mills died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
Born Jan. 25, 1937 in (Spike Island) Osceola Mills, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Catherine (O’Farrell) Penny.
She was married to Chester A. Cowfer Jr., who preceded her in death Nov. 17, 1992.
Mrs. Cowfer was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Osceola Mills.
She was a homemaker and a 1955 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Catherine Penny, Margaret Culton, Anna Pollick, Betty Felix, Sarah Socash and Harriet Cowfer; an infant brother; and three grandchildren.
She is survived by five daughters, Karen Hensal and her husband, Ronald, Rita Coleman and her husband, Mike, Chestreann Bowman and her husband, Scott, Darlene Peters and Arlene Martin and her husband, Rich, all of Osceola Mills, and three sons, Edward Cowfer and his companion, Karen Rice, Donald Cowfer and his wife, April and Raymond Cowfer and his companion, Sally Goss, all of Osceola Mills.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Heath Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Osceola Mills, with Deacon Dennis Socash officiating. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Friends will be received from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
