CURWENSVILLE – Home sharing is an alternative long-term living arrangement where two to three unrelated people choose to live for mutual benefit.
Each person has a private bedroom, while sharing with other(s), common areas including kitchen, living room and outdoor spaces.
Individuals then help each other with household tasks and utility payments. Individuals are matched up based on their individual characteristics and then are introduced to each other for a mutual interview.
Individuals benefit from companionship, security, independence, help in emergencies, cost savings and living sustainability.
Episodes of loneliness, helplessness, social isolation and symptoms of depression can also be mitigated in a home sharing environment.
Not to mention, individuals are provided with a viable option to age in place in their communities.
Communities benefit because shared housing uses existing houses and enhances neighborhood stabilization.
The public is invited to an open house on April 18 from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., at 308 George St., Curwensville, to tour the home and receive additional information. Light refreshments will be served.
This shared housing opportunity is made possible by a cooperative relationship with the Curwensville Presbyterian Church, Mature Resources Foundation and the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging Inc.
