Rose (Panarello) Capille, 94, died at her home at Colonial Courtyard in Clearfield Saturday, April 1, 2017.
She was born July 19, 1922 in Atlantic City, NJ, the daughter of Salvatore and Grazia (Spadora) Panarello.
When she was young, her family moved to a farm in Bargaintown, NJ, where she lived most of her life. She was a graduate of Pleasantville High School in 1941.
On Jan. 3, 1943, she married Antonio S. Capille Jr. shortly before he had to leave to serve in the European Theatre during World War II.
While her husband was in the Army overseas, she worked at the Owens and Illinois Glass factory.
Although she was a stay-at-home mother once they started their family, she continued to work on the family vegetable farm.
As a team, the Capille’s farmed well past the normal retirement years and were well-known for the quality of their produce. They moved to Clearfield to be with their family in 2002.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Linwood, NJ. She was later a parishioner of the St. Francis Church in Clearfield.
She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bargaintown Fire Department. She was the ultimate cook and her home was always the gathering place for extended family and friends to enjoy the feasts that she prepared.
She is survived by her son, Antonio S. Capille III of Las Vegas, Nev., and her daughter, Annette Grace Ryan and her husband, Michael of Clearfield.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Nina E. Oppenheim and her husband, Tommy of New York, NY, Antonio S. Capille IV of Ventnor, NJ, Caitlin Rose Rydberg and her husband, Timothy of Erie, Jennie Rebecca Ryan-Gisewhite and her husband, Douglas of Wayne and Johanna Ruth Ryan of Mechanicsburg.
Surviving are two great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Julia Oppenheim of New York, NY. Also surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; her parents; her brother, Biagio Panarello and his wife, Jennie; her brother, Carmen Panarello and his wife, Rita; and four infant brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Fr. Brandon M. Kleckner as celebrant and Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as homilist. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
