Curtis James Campman has announced his candidacy for Clearfield County Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts.
He is a life-long resident of Clearfield County and currently residing in Clearfield Borough.
He is the grandson of local business owners, Jim and Donna Malloy, who have owned and operated Jim’s Sports Center of downtown Clearfield for 47 years.
The store has sponsored thousands of youth athletes and organizations throughout Clearfield County.
He is the son of Forrest Campman, a retired high school civics teacher and former head basketball and assistant football coach of the Clearfield Bison.
His mother, Colleen Campman, helps run the day-to-day operations at Jim’s Sports Center, as well as serves as a volunteer for many organizations within the community.
A graduate of Clearfield Area High School, Campman was an advanced placement college prep student. He played varsity football, basketball and baseball.
He was a member of teen court as an attorney, a member of student council and a student library aide.
After high school, Campman attended the Pennsylvania State University, majoring in history before returning home to help with the day-to-day operations at Jim’s Sports Center.
He also spent three years as a sports correspondent for Gantdaily.com and two years as a summer intern in the Clearfield County adult probation office.
Campman has been a part of the Clearfield Bison football, basketball and baseball coaching staff.
He has also been very active in volunteering with youth sports, including the Clearfield Peewee Football Program and the Clearfield Youth Baseball Association.
Campman is an active member of the Pennsylvania State Football Coaches Association and Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association.
He has volunteered for 15 years as a server and cook at the annual Bison Basketball spaghetti dinner fundraiser. He has also served in some capacity on the organizing committee for the Clearfield Bison High School Fieldhouse Golf Tournament.
Campman is a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, where he was baptized as an infant and became confirmed in 2005. He has also served as confirmation sponsor for both of his brothers, Jarrin and Trey Campman.
He is an active member of ELKS B.P.O.E No. 540, helping with numerous activities, including volunteering for more than 10 years at the annual High Country Arts and Crafts festival at S.B Elliot State Park along with is father.
He is also a member of The Sons and Daughters of Italy Due Palme 189 and the Morann Citizens Club.
An avid sportsman, Campman participates yearly in the Clearfield YMCA men’s basketball league, where he sponsors a team and participates in the Old Town Softball League for the SDOI men’s fast-pitch team.
He is also an avid small game and big game hunter, and he enjoys fishing as well. Campman also enjoys golfing and riding the Rails to Trails
He is known amongst his players, coaches, friends, family and customers as an extremely positive, energetic, compassionate, honest person who reminds his youth athletes daily to “never say I can’t; nothing is impossible.”
From a young age, Campman’s parents instilled the importance of volunteer work and giving back to the community. This is a trait he continues to teach to all of the players he coaches.
Campman plans to bring an aspect of leadership, honesty, hard work, integrity and above all teamwork and positive atmosphere to the Prothonotary/Clerk of Courts office and would bring an open mind and willingness to learn with him. He plans on being a true public servant to the people of Clearfield County.
