Carolyn M. Reed, 74, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.
Born July 24, 1942, in Boggs Township, Clearfield County, she was a daughter of Frances Ruth (Conklin) Gearhart of Philipsburg and the late Merle J. Gearhart.
She was a 1960 graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School.
She was previously a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Philipsburg, and she had attended the Gospel Tabernacle Assembly of God, (Hudson) Philipsburg.
She was employed for 22 years with General Cigar, Philipsburg, until its closure. She was then employed for about five years with the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District as a cafeteria monitor and school crossing guard until her retirement.
She was married May 2, 1975 to Howard R. “Junior” Reed Jr. He preceded her in death Sept. 29, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one son, Terry W. Welsh.
She is survived by one son, Richard W. Reed Sr. and his wife, Alysha of Bellefonte and five grandchildren, Nicholas A. Showers, Richie Reed Jr., Joey T. Reed, Aria J. Moravec and Shyanne J. Reed.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Michelle R. Bodle officiating.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.
