MARTINSBURG – It was pretty cold outside on the trip to Central High School in Martinsburg Wednesday night, but it was even colder inside the high school, at least for the Clearfield Lady Bison basketball team.
In a Mountain League contest the Lady Dragons of Central took advantage of the Clearfield Lady Bison cold shooting night defeating the Bison 64-24.
The Lady Dragons started out strong and finished the same way, leading after one period 18-9 and 32-17 at the half.
It got even colder in the second 16 minutes for Clearfield as the Lady Bison could muster just seven total points, three in the third and four in the fourth.
Alayna Ryan, a sophomore, led Clearfield with nine points, who fell to 1-2 on the year and 0-1 in Mountain League activity.
Central had three girls in double figures as Tierney Fernandes had 21 points while Hannah Johnston and Cassie Mock each added 13.
Central also had a pretty good night at the foul line, hitting on 14 of 19 attempts.
The Lady Dragons also won the JV game by thumping the young Bison 46-8.
The Lady Bison are back in action on Friday night with a home game, and another Mountain League battle, against visiting Huntingdon. The junior varsity action gets underway at 6 pm with the varsity to immediately follow.
