Susan Ruth (Olson) Ryan, 82, of Hyde died in Clearfield on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016.
Born July 3, 1934 in Clearfield, she was the daughter of Gunnard C. and Ruth (Armstrong) Olson.
She graduated in 1952 from the Clearfield High School and in 1954 from Lycoming College with an Associate’s degree. She was employed for the Drs. Erhard early in her career.
On Sept. 3, 1956, she married Robert E. Ryan at St. Francis Church in Clearfield. While raising her children, she handled the office management for Ryan Brothers Coal Company.
She was a parishioner of St. Francis Catholic Church and volunteered in many capacities for her church and St. Francis School. She was a member of the St. Francis Rosary and Altar Society.
Her devotion and support for her husband, children and grandchildren are her greatest legacy. She enjoyed family time at camp, Treasure Lake, Penn State football games and never missed the grandchildren’s sporting events.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years; three sons, John and his wife, Debbie, Joseph and his wife, Brenda and Michael and his wife, Annette; and a daughter, Ruth Anne Ryan-Catalano and her husband, John Catalano, all of Clearfield.
She is survived by 10 grandchildren, John, William, Molly and her fiancé, Kevin, Daniel, Beau and his wife, Staci, David, Jayme, Caitlin and her husband, Tim, Jennie and her husband, Doug and Johanna; two step-grandchildren, Sara and her partner, Zach and Rachel and her husband, Juan; and two step-great-grandchildren, Caden and Avery.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins; a brother-in-law, Thomas Ryan and his wife, Elaine; and a sister-in-law, Mary Alice Olson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard G. Olson.
The family invites all friends to join them for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, or to the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield.
