Julia L. Shaffer, 82, of Clearfield died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Marcella, after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 4, 1933 in Curwensville, she was the daughter of Lewis Seaburn and Bertha (Reitmyer) Seaburn Vesolosky.
Mrs. Shaffer was a homemaker and United Methodist by faith. She was a former member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842 Ladies Auxiliary.
On Aug. 15, 1949 in Maryland, she wed Lester John Shaffer, who survives, along with three children, Stanley L. Shaffer and his wife, Connie of Alabama, Marcella J. Cramer and her husband, Logan of Clearfield and Richard A. Shaffer and his wife, Amy of Apollo and 10 grandchildren, Lester “Buddy” Shaffer, Jessica Ward, Brandi Ward, Andrew Shaffer, Michelle Wilson, Jennifer Campolong, Lori Murphy, Mia Shaffer and Dutch Shaffer.
Also surviving are numerous great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two sisters, Barbara Seaburn of Lynchburg, Va., and Jane Hoover and her husband, Richard of Curwensville; and a brother, Lewis Seaburn of Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Charles “Charlie” Seaburn; a son, David Shaffer; two sisters, Geraldine Condon and Anne Briskar; four brothers, Thomas, Fred, Donald and Richard Seaburn; a great-granddaughter, Haley Rumsky; and a great-grandson, Andrew Archer.
Memorial services for Mrs. Shaffer will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville with the Rev. Stephen Shields officiating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests contributions be made to either the Curwensville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, 19 River St., Curwensville, PA 16833 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
