CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday the Clearfield County Salary Board approved the creation of three positions at the county’s recreation and tourism authority.
The three CCRTA staff positions included director of marketing and promotion; assistant director of outreach/marketing; and administrative assistant.
The salary ranges were set as between $38,000 and $45,000 for director and between $28,000 and $35,000 for the assistant director.
The administrative assistant position is union level. Its salary will be per the starting rate provided for in the union contract.
The creation of these positions is contingent upon the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding between the county and CCRTA, explained Commissioner Tony Scotto.
On Sept. 27 the commissioners announced plans to take the reins of the CCRTA, and Commissioner John A. Sobel, chairman, explained the creation of these positions were a part of the ongoing changes there.
According to previously published GANT News reports, a part of the commissioners’ plan was to return all positions necessary to service the CCRTA back to Clearfield County Government under the supervision of the commissioners.
More specifically, as county government employees, the hiring, management, job descriptions and, if it’s necessary, discipline of CCRTA staff will be the sole responsibility of the commissioners.
Additionally, plans included that a MOU will be enacted between the CCRTA and the commissioners to reimburse Clearfield County Government for all costs incurred for the staffing provided to service the CCRTA in its mission.
“These are not county funds being used to create new positions,” explained Scotto. “The CCRTA will reimburse the county for costs [salaries and benefits].”
