MEN’S SWIMMING
NEW WILMINGTON — Sophomore Michael Spencer (Clearfield) won the 50-yard freestyle and anchored two winning relay teams as Westminster defeated visiting Penn State Behrend 171-108 in its dual meet opener at the Westminster Natatorium Saturday.
Spencer touched the wall in 21.95 seconds for his individual victory.
In the relays, he posted splits of 21.53 for the 200 medley foursome that won in 1:39.91 and 21.08 for the 200 free relay team that triumphed in 1:28.18.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
ERIE — Sophomore midfielder Tessa Munshower (Clearfield) scored her first goal of the season as Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference champion Penn State Behrend closed the regular season with a 9-0 rout of Medaille (N.Y.) Tuesday, Oct. 25, at Behrend Field.
Munshower, who recorded four shots with two on goal, directed a Nicole Evans’ cross to the middle into the net in the 81st minute to cap the Lions biggest output of the season.
Junior midfielder McKenna Aleksivich (Clearfield) registered three shots, two on goal, in her seventh appearance.
Aleksivich has three goals for six points with her 6-for-8 shots-on-goal average of .750 the highest among Lions with multiple shots.
Munshower has three points with 12 shots, four on goal, in 11 games.
After receiving a bye in the first round of the AMCC Championship Playoffs, Penn State Behrend (14-4) will take a 10-game winning streak into a Wednesday semifinal against No. 4 seed Mount Aloysius, which nipped No. 6 Hilbert 3-2 Saturday.
No. 3 seed Pitt-Bradford, a 1-0 survivor against No. 5 La Roche Saturday, goes on the road to challenge regular-season runner-up Pitt-Greensburg in the other semi.
The title game will be played on the higher seed’s home field Saturday.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Freshman Raquel Grice (Clearfield) made her ninth appearance for Penn State Harrisburg in the Lions’ season-ending Capital Athletic Conference 4-1 loss to host Marymount last Wednesday.
The Lions finished 6-12 with a 3-6 CAC record.
After missing the first half of the season because of an injury, Grice wound up tied for second in goals (2) and assists (2) and third in points (6).
Though tied for eighth in shots (11), she was fourth in shots on goal (7) with her 63.6 percentage tops for players with double-digit shots.

CLARION — Junior midfielder/defender Carlee Freeberg (Clearfield) was back on offense for Clarion on Senior Day at Memorial Stadium, but the Golden Eagles managed only one goal in a season-ending 2-1 loss to Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Saturday.
Freeberg started every game, 11 on offense with one assist and one shot on goal and seven on defense.
Clarion finished 2-14-2 and wound up 15th in the PSAC with a 2-13-1 record.
Freeberg’s three-season totals show 31 starts in 48 games with the one point and nine shots, three on goal.

FOOTBALL
BEAVER FALLS — Junior strong safety Austin Jacobson (Curwensville) had two tackles, one for a loss, as Geneva turned back Grove City 21-14 in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game that drew 4,982 fans to Reeves Field Saturday night.
With the defense limiting the visitors to 275 yards, the Golden Tornadoes improved to 2-4 in the PAC and 3-5 overall.
Jacobson is sixth on the team with 33 tackles, including 20 solo stops and three for losses of three yards. He also has broken up three passes.

GREENVILLE — Sophomore linebacker Dusty Maines (Clearfield) assisted on two tackles for Thiel in a come-from-behind 50-42 Presidents’ Athletic Conference win over Waynesburg in front of 950 fans at Alumni Stadium Saturday night.
The Tomcats scored the final 13 points to pad their record to 3-5 and 2-4 in the PAC.
Maines has played in four games with four solo tackles and five assists.

HUNTINGDON — Junior offensive lineman Jon Janocko (Clearfield) made his seventh start at left guard for Juniata in a 20-13 Centennial Conference loss to visiting McDaniel with a crowd of 2,875 on hand at Knox Stadium Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles fell to 3-4 in the conference and 4-4 overall.

EDWARDSVILLE — Junior center Brad Stubbs (Curwensville) and his Lycoming teammates wound up on the short end of another close Middle Atlantic Conference battle Saturday afternoon as host Wilkes held on for a 28-26 victory in front of 775 fans in Schmidt Stadium.
The Warriors (3-5, 2-5 MAC) have lost three games by three or fewer points.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
ATHENS, Ohio — Freshman Claire Mikesell (Clearfield) lowered her personal records in two races for Ohio University in the Bobcats’ 178-122 loss to Eastern Michigan in the Ohio Aquatic Center Saturday.
She placed fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.53 seconds and sixth in the 100 free in 53.40.
Mikesell also swam the third leg in 55.32 for the Bobcat ‘B’ 400 free relay quartet that finished fourth in 3:34.86.
