DUBOIS – Members of DuBois City Council lifted the city’s mandatory water restrictions at Monday night’s regular meeting.
“We sat here last Thursday and prior to the work session, we were down [below the spillway] 35 inches,” said City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio.
“And, we know right after the work session, it started raining, and actually never did stop raining.”
When it was measured Monday morning, the city’s reservoir was two inches above the spillway, he said. Council subsequently voted to lift the water restrictions that had been in place.
Suplizio also announced DuBois City has received a state grant for an efficiency study on its wastewater treatment facility. Click here to read more about the sewer grant.
“Whether we need to upgrade the sewage plant, whether we need to build a new sewage plant, there are so many options,” he said.
Suplizio and council members expressed their thanks to State Senator Joe Scarnati for his assistance in getting the sewer grant.
In other business, council noted DuBois City will have an extra police cruiser out in each ward for Halloween.
This is being made possible due to a combination of having the day shift stay on duty a little longer and the night shift starting a little earlier, council said.
Councilmember Jim Aughenbaugh was excused from the meeting.
