CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday the Clearfield County Commissioners passed a resolution seeking to reduce the number of board members from 12 to nine on the county’s recreation and tourism authority.
The CCRTA previously proposed the reduction of board members and passed its own written resolution. It later amended its resolution as the five-year terms cannot be changed due to incorporation laws.
Since the commissioners approved their resolution, both resolutions will now be delivered by the CCRTA to the Department of State. If accepted by the state, an amendment will be recorded and the board members will be officially reduced from 12 to nine.
After the meeting, Commissioner Mark B. McCracken said that the CCRTA has appointed Andy Gates as an attorney to work with County Solicitor Kim Kesner on a memorandum of understanding to be established with the county.
When asked if the commissioners had any comment on the resignation of Tourism Director Holly Komonczi, Kesner said any comment would be up to other CCRTA members as the commissioners make up the minority of the board.
Commissioner Chairman John A. Sobel said the commissioners who previously announced plans for the county to take the reins of the CCRTA hope to have things “up and running” by January of 2017. “But there are a lot of variables a part of that process,” he noted.
