Rosalie “Joan” Brown, 75, of Philipsburg died Oct. 25, 2016 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.
Born Sept. 20, 1941, in Morrisdale, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl (Price) Carles.
Mrs. Brown was a 1959 graduate of the former Morris Township High School, Morrisdale.
She was married in September of 1959, at the Morrisdale Methodist Church, Morrisdale, to Dr. A.J. Brown; he preceded her in death April 1, 2007.
She was a member of the New Life Center, Philipsburg.
Mrs. Brown was the office manager, optician and ear-aid specialist for her husband’s practice that they operated in Philipsburg from 1968 to 2007.
She received an Associate’s degree in optics from Bemis College, Memphis, Tenn., in 1966. She also received her certification as a hearing-aid specialist in 1989 from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael McPherson; one brother, Robert Carles; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Alberts.
She is survived by three daughters, Diane McPherson and Susan Brown, both of Philipsburg, and Jacqueline Huber and her husband, Carey of Houtzdale; one grandson, David McPherson of Philipsburg; one sister, Louise Alberts of Conway, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Martha Carles of Morrisdale; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, at the New Life Center, Philipsburg, with Pastor John T. Dill officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Friday until the time of the funeral service at the church. Burial will be in Allport Cemetery, Allport.
