Gary Shawver, 78, of Dutchtown died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 at his residence under the care of Penn Highlands Hospice.
Born Feb. 25, 1938 in Shindle, Pa., he was the son of the late Kenneth and Anna (Rothrock) Shawver.
He married Goldie G. Knepp on Sept. 30, 1958 in Lewistown. She preceded him in death in 2010.
He retired as a tool and die maker from FCI on Oct. 1, 2001. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
He is survived by his children, Gary W. (Cynthia) Shawver of New York; Gregory (Donna) Shawver of Houtzdale; Timothy (Becky) Shawver of Huntington; Cindy (David) Green and Corey Shawver and his partner, Sasha Leskovansky, both of Dutchtown; and Lorie (Brian) Thomas of Easton.
He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Lindsay, Shayn, Nickolas, Brieanna, Mikayla, James, Dustin, Benjamin, Roy, Christopher, Jacob, Nicole, Corey, Jr., Alexa, Jacey, Trevor, Tanner, and Helena; one step-grandchild, Gorgia; and four great-grandchildren, Alydia, Alaina, Anthony and Aubriella.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a three siblings, Shelby Fromm, Linda Fisher and Darrell Shawver.
Friends will be received from 1 p.m. until the time of services at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Kruise-Spewock Funeral & Cremation Services Inc., Ramey.
Dwayne Stiner will officiate the service. A reception will follow at the Wreck Center in Houtzdale. Burial will be private.
