Alva “Jo” Zeffiro of Green Acres, Anderson, SC died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at the DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois.
Born Dec. 23, 1931, in Sandy Springs, SC, she was the daughter of the late Fred G. Moore and Alva King Moore.
She was a graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania where she majored in special education.
She was a member of the honor society and did graduate work at Clemson and Webster Universities.
On Dec. 27, 1955, she married William Zeffiro. He preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1997.
Mrs. Zeffiro was a volunteer at the Anderson County, SC Library and the Anderson County Museum. She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served as a lector, intercessor and a lay Eucharistic visitor.
She was an avid reader and a member of a monthly book review club. She was a world traveler and loved to travel abroad.
She is survived by her children, William T. Zeffiro of New York City, NY, Anne McDaniel and her husband, Dave of Atlanta, Ga., Candace Cole and her husband, Nate of DuBois and Matthew P. Zeffiro of Anderson, SC and a step-son, Timothy C. Zeffiro and his wife, Amy of Sewickley, Pa.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Hannah Doolan, Sarah, Rebekah and Susanah Zeffiro, Josh McDaniel and Amy Robison, Zack and Jacob Cole and Alexandra Zeffiro.
Mrs. Zeffiro was preceded in death by a son, Frederick Zeffiro.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Grace Episcopal Church in Anderson, SC.
Burial will be in the Grace Episcopal Church in Anderson, SC.
