William R. “Bill” Laird, 67, of Philipsburg died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 at Ridgeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Curwensville.
Born April 3, 1949 in Philipsburg, he was a son of the late Robert and Jean (Whitehead).
Mr. Laird was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War era. He was also a member of the Moshannon Lodge No. 391 F. & A.M., Philipsburg.
He was a 1967 graduate of the Philipsburg – Osceola Area High School.
He was married Aug. 25, 1973 in Iowa to the former Kerrie Killian, who survives at home.
Mr. Laird was employed as a HVAC mechanic with the Office of Physical Plant at Penn State, University Park campus, until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, Bonita (Kerfoot) Laird.
In addition to his wife, Kerrie, he is survived by two daughters, Brandi Laird and her husband, Travis Smith of Belmont, NC and Danielle Laird and her companion, Greg Nelson of Philipsburg and one son, Ryan Laird and his companion, Jennifer Putman of Watertown, Wis.
He is also survived by three grandchildren, Benjamin Laird of Watertown, Wis., and Emersyn Nelson and Hadley Nelson, both of Philipsburg; two sisters, Leslie Cushard and her husband, William of Woodstock, Ga., and Sally Laird of Philipsburg; two brothers, Thomas Laird and his wife, Beth and Robert Laird, both of Philipsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Philipsburg Cemetery, Philipsburg.
