Hurricane Matthew has effected a majority of the states on the east coast, and continues to do so Saturday as the remnants continue to circulate in the Atlantic Ocean. Â Some college football games that were slated for this week were postponed due to the weather, and even games happening today were hampered because of the heavy rain that fell.
NASCAR didn’t escape the rain either, as heavy rain began falling in the Charlotte area on Friday. Â All track activity on Friday was wiped out because of heavy rain, and it continued into Saturday morning.
Forecasts were calling for different ideas of the rain ending in the mid-afternoon, while others were calling for later in the evening. Â Despite the Air Titans on standby to do the job of track drying, it was clear that the rain wasn’t going to let up.
Officials made the statement just after 10:30 a.m. Saturday that the Bank of America 500 would be postponed. Â The Xfinity Series was to run on Friday night, but it too is moved.
NASCAR will now run a double-header on Sunday, the second consecutive week that both series will run on one day.  However, unlike at Dover, it will be the Sprint Cup Series that will be the lead the way this time as the green flag will wave at 12 Noon, with coverage on NBC.  The Xfinity Series will start afterwards, with a slated start time at around 4:30 p.m.  Coverage of the second race will be on NBCSN.
