Clark and Carfley were scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the original charges Wednesday, but their hearings were continued until Nov. 23. Hearings on the new charges will be held that same day. Both remain in the Clearfield County Jail.
The couple was on the run from Sept. 5 until Sept. 22. During this time, they allegedly broke into three, different camps in Covington Township removing food, blankets, water, sleeping bags, a solar shower, clothing, a telescope and other supplies, according to the affidavits of probable cause.
One of the camps reported a Kawasaki Mule utility vehicle, crossbow, walkie talkies and a BB gun missing. The first of these burglaries was reported on Sept. 12 and the last one on Sept. 24.
On Sept. 22 they were spotted off River Hill Road in that area. Later investigators found the Mule UTV and some of the stolen items. Clark was taken into custody at 9 a.m. and Carfley at 11:40 a.m. She was allegedly in possession of numerous items stolen from the camps.
When she was interviewed by police, she said after the incident at the Laundromat they got scared and went to a trailer in Hyde to get some personal belongings and then they went to Kittanning for her doctor’s appointment.
After that they went to Clark’s parent’s home. The next day, they went back to Hyde and then back to Frenchville. She explained they would sneak up to Clark’s father’s garage every night and take clothes, food and water.
They slept in a tent while they were allegedly using methamphetamine and other types of “speed.” She admitted to entering two of the camps and taking items. She also stated they found items in the UTV that they used including camouflage clothing.
