Elsie Louise Kroh, 99, of Curwensville died Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at her residence.
Born Feb. 15, 1917, she was the daughter of Neno and Catherine Louise (Durandetto) Durandetta.
Mrs. Kroh was a registered nurse after having been a 1935 graduate of Curwensville High School and a 1938 graduate of the Philipsburg State General Hospital School of Nursing.
She first worked for the Brookville Hospital (Penn Highlands Brookville) and then worked at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center where she retired from.
She was a member of the Curwensville United Methodist Church, where for many, many years she served as head of the Kitchen.
She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for numerous years. She was also a member of the Curwensville VFW Post 842 Auxiliary and the Curwensville American Legion Post 505 Auxiliary.
In 1942, she wed Blake O. “Pat” Kroh, who preceded her in death Aug. 18, 1989.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Patrick Kroh; two grandsons, Chad and Michael Wilsoncroft; and two brothers, Alex and Wayne Durandetta. She was the last member of her generation
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Vicky L. Kroh of Curwensville; five grandchildren, Tammy of Altoona, Tracey of Hastings, Dana of Arizona, Andy of Curwensville and Steven of Coalport; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Kroh will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. George W. Solley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery of Curwensville.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday and again from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
