CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Brian Kephart Jr., 19, of Franks Lane, Clearfield.
Kephart is wanted for failure to appear at sentencing court Sept. 27, at which time a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On July 12 Officer Mitchell Klender of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Kephart with fleeing and eluding, F3, and various traffic offenses.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 4 borough officers were on routine patrol when they noticed a male motorcyclist had committed a traffic violation.
When Kkender attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the motorcyclist allegedly accelerated and reached a speed of approximately 75 miles per hour in a 25-mph zone. Officers eventually lost sight of the motorcycle.
After reviewing video surveillance at a local business and speaking with individuals, police identified the motorcyclist as Kephart. Upon making contact with Kephart, he admitted to operating the motorcycle on the day in question.
A preliminary hearing was held Aug. 17, at which time all charges were held to court. On Sept. 27 Kephart failed to appear at sentencing court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Kephart is described as a Caucasian male standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He has brown hair and eyes.
Anyone with knowledge of Kephart’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
