Joyce Finney, 91, of Houtzdale died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 at UPMC Altoona Campus.
Born July 22, 1925 in West Moshannon, she was the daughter of Oscar and Leola (Custer) Olson.
She was a life-long member of the New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, Houtzdale, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and held numerous positions at the church.
She was employed by Lloyd Manufacturing until her retirement. She enjoyed going to church, shopping and going to lunch with her daughters and her cat, Molly.
On Dec. 22, 1944, she married Joseph Finney Jr., who preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2011.
She is survived by six children, Joseph R. Finney and his wife, April of Liverpool, Texas, Joyce Carnahan Dobish and her husband, Mike, Dwayne Finney and Shirley Kitko and her husband, Raymond, all of Houtzdale, and Darlene Cowfer and her husband, Larry and Timothy Finney, both of Osceola Mills, 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Lorrain Dinant of Massachusetts and Eleanor Sefchick of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; two brothers, Robert and Thomas Olson; and two sisters, Mary K. Jones and Dorothy Horgas.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Hope Christian Fellowship Church, Houtzdale, with the Rev. Dennis Frantz officiating.
Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brisbin.
