Much needed rain is coming to central Pennsylvania, with the highest amounts predicted for the south-central counties. Flash flooding is possible in areas that are prone to rising water following storms such as this.
The American Red Cross reminds people to pay attention to their local forecasts and to stay vigilant should waters begin to rise.
If a flood warning is issued for your area, head to higher ground immediately and plan to stay there until the danger passes.
If you come across a flooded road, always “turn around, don’t drown.” Most cars can be swept away by as little as two feet of moving water, said a spokesperson with the Red Cross.
The American Red Cross Emergency App contains a wealth of useful information designed to help people prepare for, respond to, and recover from floods and other disaster situations.
“You can download the free app from your local app store today so you’re better prepared to handle whatever situation might arise,” the spokesperson said.
