Marsha J. Hammel, 64, of Roaring Spring and formerly of Philipsburg, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh.
Born May 27, 1952, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late Marshall and Wilma (Coulter) Luzier.
She was a 1970 graduate of the Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School.
She was first married Aug. 28, 1976, to James Nelson, at West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1984.
Her second marriage was Nov. 6, 2015, to Ronald W. Hammel, at Target One, Martinsburg.
Early in her working career, she graduated from Pruonto’s Beauty Academy, Altoona, and she opened and operated her own business, the former Marsha’s Beauty Salon, Clearfield.
She then entered the healthcare field and graduated from the practical nursing program at the Clearfield County Career & Technology Center, Clearfield. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse with Sunny Days Adult Daily Living, Bellefonte, until her retirement.
In addition to her husband, Ronald, and her beloved Cavalier King Charles spaniel at home, she is survived by two sons, Gregory Nelson and his companion, Danielle Laird of Philipsburg and Scott Nelson and his wife, Amanda (Rodgers) of Morrisdale.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Isabella, Gracie, Emersyn and Hadley; two step-children, Amy Claar and her husband, Bruce of New Enterprise and Ronald W. Hammel Jr. and his wife, Christy of Claysburg; and four step-grandchildren, Bruce, Corey, Dakota and Lexi.
A private funeral service will be held at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce S.t, Philipsburg, with Pastor Philip J. Waite and the Rev. Dan A. Hammel, brother-in-law of the deceased, co-officiating.
Burial will be at Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
