George E. Cessna, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at his home in Penfield.
Born Aug. 20, 1924 in Force, Pa., he was the son of the late James J. and Nelly (Reid) Cessna.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Stahlnecker) and four sons, Craig, Cliff and his wife, Robbin, Brian and Bruce and his wife, Heidi of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He is also survived by a nephew, Blair Cessna of Chemung, NY; a niece, Sandra (Cessna) Bunce of Erie; five grandchildren, Brandon, Zachary, Danielle, Cory and Chase; and one great-grandchild, Addison. He was the last of his generation.
He was a World War II combat veteran who had served in the European Theater of Operations with the 10th Field Artillery Battalion, Third Infantry Division in Italy, France, and Germany.
There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
