Francis C. Werner, 84, of DuBois died Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 17, 1932 in Johnsonburg, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Marie (Rippy) Werner.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army who had served in the Korean War. He retired as the controller of Windfall Products Inc. in St. Marys. He was an accountant for many years.
On Jan. 4, 1964, he married Carol M. (Wolfe) Werner. Â Â She survives.
He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.
He was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed traveling, especially to Isle of Palm, SC. He also enjoyed exercising at the DuBois YMCA.
Most of all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was well known for his hearty laugh.
He is survived by four children, Kimberly Cathcart and her husband, Anthony of Denver, NC; Michael Werner and his wife, Kristin of Tyler, Texas; Karen Cofield and her husband, Michael of Glenshaw, Pa.; and James Werner and his wife, Christy of DuBois.
He is also survived by two brothers, Gene Werner and his wife, Marlene and Jon Werner and his wife, Sherry, both of St. Marys and seven grandchildren, Anthony and Abigail Cathcart; Allie and Andrew Werner, and Maria, Sara and Julia Werner.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 4:20 p.m. at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Walk as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
