CLEARFIELD – Tensions were high and tempers flared during Wednesday morning’s Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority meeting.
The meeting was advertised as cancelled in yesterday’s edition of The Progress. However, some media outlets were subsequently informed that there had been confusion regarding the meeting and that it was still being held.
A quorum of five board members attended as well as members of the public, some of which arrived during the next hour-and-a-half.
When questioned about the legality of the meeting, board member John Sobel, also a county commissioner, and Kim Kesner, who was attending as a member of the public, explained that the meeting cancellation was not with approval of the full board, but a decision of the executive committee, and therefore the meeting could still be held.
During the meeting, the board took action, declaring the actions of the August meeting null and void and suspending Executive Director Holly Komonczi with pay until the next meeting, scheduled for Sept. 20 at 10 a.m.
Additionally, due to questions on the legality of the meeting and possible accusations of assault, the Lawrence Township police responded to the meeting and talked with members of the public and board members.
A complete and detailed story will be published later on GANT.
