Michael Angelo “Mike” Fida, 65, of Clearfield and formerly of Curwensville, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016 at Select Specialty Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born June 21, 1951 in Curwensville, he was the son of Vincent J. and Marjorie (Kymer) Fida.
He was a 1969 graduate of Curwensville Area High School. He had also attended Lincoln University in Harrogate, Tenn.
Mr. Fida had worked for the past several years at the Kwik Fill on Old Town Road in Clearfield, where he had planned to retire from in July of this year.
Scouting remained his passion throughout life. He was a vigil member of the Ah’tic Lodge No. 139 Order of the Arrow at Camp Mountain Run.
He was an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop No. 13 of Curwensville and an avid patch collector.
He wed the former MaryAnn Stoughton on Aug. 22, 1987. She survives along with her children whom he loved dearly, Ben and Adam Dysard of Clearfield, Jason Dysard of Goshen and Rebecca Tamin and her husband, Jake of DuBois.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Andrew Dysard, Erika Williams, Anthony Williams and Aubry Tamin and step-children, Teri High and Ronald Folmar of McClenny, Fla.
In addition, he is survived by a sister, Ellie Fenton and her husband, Dave of Curwensville; nieces, Molly Sheeder and her husband, Damon of Curwensville and Lorie Natoli (God-child) and her husband, Ed of Clearfield; nephew, Rob Fenton and his wife, Kindra of Curwensville; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; an aunt Catherine Sheehe of Harrisburg; and several cousins. He will be greatly missed by his canine companion, Reese.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Ken Sass; and former wife, Loretta (Ogden) Fulmer Fida.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Timothy Roman Catholic Church in Curwensville with Father Mark J. Mastrian as celebrant. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park in Hyde.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville.
The Rosary will be recited by members of St. Timothy Altar and Rosary Society at 3 p.m. and a Scripture Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:45 p.m., both Thursday at the funeral home.
