PHILIPSBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will open a new bridge in Philipsburg on Friday.
The bridge spans Cold Stream on Route 3034 (Loch Lomond Road) in the borough and carries an average of more than 2,500 vehicles daily.
Replacing the bridge will allow PennDOT to remove it from Centre County’s structurally deficient list.
Once the bridge is open to traffic, PennDOT will remove the detour that’s been in place since mid-April.
The detour made use of Route 504 (One Mile Road), Township Road 951 (Medical Center Drive), and Township Road 804 (Loch Lomond Road).
PennDOT expects the bridge to be open late in the day on Friday.
Overall work has included demolition of the old bridge, construction of a new concrete box beam structure, new approaches, sewer line relocation, pavement markings, and miscellaneous items.
Francis J. Palo Inc. of Clarion has been the contractor on this $1.3 million project.
PennDOT thanks area motorists for their patience during this closure and detour.
