Shirley “Ruth” Hill, 85, of Philipsburg died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016, at her residence.
Born Aug. 24, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Burl M. and Esther E. (Waple) Graffius.
She was a 1951 graduate of the former Philipsburg High School.
She was married Sept. 8, 1951 in Philipsburg to Calvin J. Hill, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2012.
During her life, she was employed with the former General Cigar, Philipsburg, and for several years until her retirement in the housekeeping department at Windy Hill Village, PSL, Philipsburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ruth Hill; four sisters, Bette Antolik, Effie Cuppett, Jean Fahr and Rita Oncea; and one brother, Robert Graffius.
She is survived by two daughters, Robin Baran of State College and Brenda Sue Hill and her companion, James Wilson of Philipsburg and West Decatur, respectively; two grandchildren, Sarah E. Morrison and her husband, Michael of Marcus Hook and Sidney J. Baran and his fiancée, Katie Vanaman of Downingtown; one great-granddaughter, Genevieve Elise Morrison of Marcus Hook; one sister, Judith “Judy” Geist of (South) Philipsburg; one brother, Roger Graffius and his wife, Carole of Morrisdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Timothy D. Richmond officiating.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Morrisdale.
