Daisy K. Reiter, 79, of Philipsburg died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 at her home.
Born Aug. 25, 1936 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Clark B. and Maude E. (Bensinger) Zimmerman.
She was a 1953 graduate of Lewisburg High School and received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Penn State University in 1957.
A retired teacher of the Philipsburg-Osceola School District, she taught for 23 years at the former Wallaceton-Boggs Elementary School.
She had also taught in Hershey, Topeka and New Cumberland. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Philipsburg, where she was a member of the choir and church council.
She was a member of Valley Voices and enjoyed walking, knitting and spending time with her family. She recently authored Cora, It’s War. She also had a love for golden retrievers.
On June 3, 1978 in Lewisburg, she married Edward P. Reiter, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Elizabeth White of Castle Rock, Colo., Kathryn M. Ellis and her husband, Dr. Tom Ellis of Boalsburg, Ann Marie McCarty and her husband, Dr. David McCarty of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Amy Marie Reiter of New Hampshire and two sons, Russell Reiter of Roanoke, Va., and Ed Reiter of State College.
Also surviving are a sister, Elva M. Fritz and her husband, Harry of Lewisburg; a brother, Dr. Clark B. Zimmerman and his wife, Christine of Parker, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lorraine Grenoble.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
