CLEARFIELD – District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week. Shaw identified the fugitive as Matthew Kunkle, 38, of Boxan Road, Morrisdale.
Kunkle is wanted for failure to appear at Arraignment Court on July 27, at which time a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On May 31 Officer Elliot Neeper of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint in which he charged Kunkle with theft by unlawful taking, M2; receiving stolen property, M2; and criminal mischief, S.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, while on routine patrol May 21, police were dispatched to a local hotel for a report about a female who was causing a disturbance.
Upon arrival Neeper met with an employee who related that a male and a female had just left and a television was missing from their room. Neeper went to the room, where he observed the television to be missing and damage.
Officers made contact with a witness who said that Kunkle had told them about putting the television outside a storage unit. Neeper viewed surveillance video from outside the storage unit, and Kunkle was observed exiting a vehicle with the television in his possession.
A preliminary hearing was held July 6, at which all charges were held to court. On July 27 Kunkle failed to appear at Arraignment Court, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Kunkle is described as a Caucasian male who stands 6 feet tall. He has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone with knowledge of Kunkle’s location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
