The word “relatable” isn’t often used to describe supermodels — unless we’re talking about Chrissy Teigen.
Anyone who follows Teigen on social media knows that she leads a glamorous life comprised of photo shoots, trips abroad and hanging with celebrity friends. But many of her fans don’t follow her just for that.
They follow her because she’s real. The latest example? A jokey photo on her Snapchat that also happens to be empowering for a lot of women.
“My thighs have tributaries,” she wrote, alongside a crying emoji and a close-up photo of her leg.
Teigen, 30, has never been shy about sharing her imperfections. Last year, she posted a photo on Instagram showing bruises and stretch marks on her thighs.
“I actually am working on a cookbook and I was bumping around in the kitchen and the door handle would just nick me every single time,” Teigen later said on Meredith Vieira’s talk show.
“And I was actually just taking a picture of the bruises and then I saw the stretch marks in there. I have those apps, the Facetune and Photoshopping ones, and I just didn’t feel like doing it anymore—and I’m never doing it again, because I think we forgot what normal people look like now.”
The former Sports Illustrated swimsuit model and TV host is married to singer John Legend and gave birth to their first child — a girl — in April.
