CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Election/Voter Registration Office would like to remind voters of some upcoming important dates and information for the Nov. 8 General Election.
Absentee Balloting
- The first day to legally apply for an absentee ballot is Sept. 19.
Qualifications to apply for an absentee ballot:
- Member of the military and their family (If residing outside of Clearfield County). Military electors and their families can apply at any time.
- Any qualified registered and enrolled elector who expects to be or is absent from the municipality of his residence because his/her duties, occupation, or business require him to be elsewhere during the entire period the polls are open for voting.
- Any qualified registered and enrolled elector who because of illness or physical disability is unable to attend his polling place.
“Please note that Pennsylvania does not have a “No excuses” absentee,” said Dawn Graham, Clearfield County Elections director.
Absentee Ballot Application Instructions:
- You must complete all information required, name (as registered), address where registered, municipality (borough, city, or township), date of birth, mailing address (if different than residential address), reason for absentee, whether it is absence from municipality or physical illness or disability, signature, and date.
- You must supply either your Pennsylvania driver’s license number or PennDOT-issued Pennsylvania photo identification card (PennDOT photo ID) number in the blocks provided. If you do not have a driver’s license number or PennDOT photo ID number you must supply the last four digits of your Social Security Number.
If you do not have either of these types of identification please check the box entitled, “I DO NOT have a Pennsylvania driver’s license, PennDOT ID or Social Security number.
You must enclose a photocopy of an acceptable ID. Please see www.VotesPA.com call 1-877-VotesPA (1-877-868-3772) or contact your county board of elections regarding acceptable IDs.
Return the application to your local County Board of Elections. (The address and telephone number for your local County Board of Elections may be found using the County Information Link at www.VotesPA.com.)
Absentee Voting Deadlines Are As Follows:
- Applications: The last day to apply for a civilian absentee ballot is 5 p.m. on the Tuesday before the election (Nov. 1). Please note that postmarks do not apply and original applications must be received (no facsimiles or e-mails).
- Voted Ballots: All civilian voted ballots must be returned to the County Board of Elections Office by 5 p.m. on the Friday before the election (Nov. 4). Please note that postmarks do not apply. If hand delivering, only the actual voter may return their ballot.
Voter Registration
- Last day to register to vote or to make any changes to voter registration is Oct. 11.
