Frances Deao of Morann died Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at Windy Hill Village of the Presbyterian, Philipsburg.
Born Oct. 22, 1922, she was the daughter of John and Anna (McCloskey) Frankovich.
She was an active member of the St. Barbara’s Polish National Catholic Parish and the ANS Society of the church.
She enjoyed making pierogis, baking for her family, playing bingo and watching Pirates baseball.
She owned and operated the former Deao’s Store in Morann.
On May 20, 1944 in St. Barbara’s Roman Catholic Church, Houtzdale, she married Michael J Deao, who preceded her in death on May 26, 2005.
She is survived by children, Shirley (Richard) Gilbert of Gloversville, NY, Jerry (Debbie) Deao of Ginter, Lawrence (Debra) Deao of Houtzdale and Regina (Jim) Keith of Morann.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Todd (Ann) Gilbert of Clinton Park, NY, Scott (Elizabeth) Gilbert of Glenville, NY, Angela Deao of Ginter, Andrew (Lacy) Deao of Crafton Heights, Stephen (Kelly) Deao of Denver, Colo., James (Stephanie) Keith and Michael (Kilee) Keith, both of Houtzdale, and P.J. Keith of Morann; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Martin Frankovich of Morann; and a sister, Lillian Popovitch of Morann.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a grandson, Gregory Deao; and five brothers, Joe, Vince Paul, Frank and Robert Frankovich.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Barbara’s Polish National Catholic Parish, Houtzdale, with Father Scott Lill as celebrant.
Family and friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
Father Lill will hold a vigil for deceased service at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Barbara’s Cemetery, Ramey.
