ABC isn’t playing when it comes to its retro game show block. The network has officially ordered new seasons of all four of its retro hits, “Celebrity Family Feud,” “The $100,000 Pyramid,” “Match Game” and “To Tell the Truth.”
“We’re thrilled by the performance of each of our game shows and the reception they received from the fans,” said Channing Dungey, president of ABC Entertainment, in a statement. “The success of these shows is due in large part to the strength of our hosts, Steve Harvey, Michael Strahan, Alec Baldwin and Anthony Anderson.”
The renewal will take the Harvey-hosted “Celebrity Family Feud” into a third season, and the other series into their second seasons.
With three new retro game shows on its schedule this year, the network found success in grouping them for what it branded the “Sunday Fun & Games” block. The shows have found a steady audience in that slot.
“Celebrity Family Feud” averaged 8.2 million viewers and was Sunday’s most-watched broadcast series this summer, according to ABC.
“The $100,000 Pyramid,” “Match Game,” and “To Tell the Truth,” averaged 7.7 million viewers, 6.5 million viewers and 5.2 million viewers, respectively.
